BOSTON, Mass. -- Junior midfielder Nell Spencer (Buxton, Mass.) scored with 62 seconds left in regulation to send the match into overtime, but the Simmons University women's soccer team was defeated in the second overtime by visiting Regis College (Mass.), 3-2, this afternoon in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference match on rain-soaked Daly Field in Brighton, Mass. The Sharks fall to 0-8-1 overall and 0-5-0 in league play, while the Pride improve to 5-5-0 and 2-2-0.

Regis owned most of the offensive possession with a 15-6 shot advantage, including the only three shots taken in the overtime session.

Sophomore forward Kaylee Francis (Millis, Mass.) directed a shot to the left side of the box, where the Simmons keeper met the ball, but was unable to retain possession, before Garcia collected rebound and took the ball into the goalmouth where she flicked a shot into the right side for the game-winner with 7:37 showing on the clock in the second overtime.

The Pride looked to win the match in regulation, but the Sharks scored the equalizer with just 62 ticks left in the half to knot the score at 2-2. Junior midfielder Emma Trahant (Lynn, Mass.) lifted a cross into the box, where it took a bounce before Spencer guided a short header that bounced over the keeper and into the back of the net for her first goal of the year at 88:58.

Simmons broke into the scoring column early in the opening half for a 1-0 lead. Senior forward Amber Nobbs (Granville, Mass.) carried the ball up the right side, before crossing to first year midfielder Izabella Warren (Hillsboro, N.H.), who beat the keeper and put a shot inside the right far post just 3:29 into the match.

Regis pulled even, later in the half, when junior forward Payton Fitzgerald (Danielson, Conn.) sent a cross from the right side of the box into the goalmouth, where classmate Brianna Gaynor (Peabody, Mass.) connected with a one-timer for her third marker of the season at 34:40 to make it 1-1.

The Pride took their first lead of the contest in the second half when Francis fired a shot that deflected off the Sharks keeper and onto the foot of sophomore Julia Walsh (Waltham, Mass.), who converted in front of the net for her first tally of the season and a 2-1 lead at the 69:59 mark.

Sophomore keeper Ori Attridge (Westwood, Mass.) earned the victory for Regis with one save in the final 57:23 of action after relieving starting goalie Angie Caldwell (Goffstown, N.H.), who stopped a shot in the first half of play. First year goalie Melanie Colman (Holliston, Mass.) made six saves for Simmons.

The Sharks return to action on Saturday, October 5 when they travel to Newton, Mass. to take on GNAC rival Lasell University at 12:00 p.m., while the Pride head to West Hartford, Conn. to take on University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) for a noon conference tilt.
