BOSTON, Mass. -- The Simmons University women's soccer team was defeated by visiting Albertus Magnus College, 3-0, in Great Northeast Athletic Conference play this afternoon on Daly Field in Brighton, Mass. The Sharks fall to 0-6-1 overall and 0-3-0 in league play, while the Falcons improve to 4-2-0 and 1-1-0.

Junior forward Katherine Raposo (Warwick, R.I.) netted a pair of goals to lead Albertus Magnus.

The Falcons owned a 14-7 shot advantage, including 10-4 in the opening half, while Simmons held a 3-2 edge on corner kicks.

Raposo put Albertus Magnus on the board with 16:10 gone in the first half when she took a through ball from sophomore midfielder Haley Andrews (Prospect, Conn.) and lifted a shot from 20 yards out that found the back of the net for a 1-0 lead. AMC wasted no time in padding its lead, scoring 2:02 later, when junior forward Sophia Austin (East Hartford, Conn.) came off the bench and took a feed from sophomore forward Jordan Kikosicki (East Haven, Conn.) to net her fifth goal of the season. Faust received a cross on the left side of the box and took a hard shot into the far right post at the 18:12 mark of the first half.

The Falcons added an insurance goal early in the second stanza when Raposo dribbled into the box to draw the Sharks keeper out and made a move to beat the goalie and score from 10 yards out for a 3-0 lead at 53:48.

Simmons graduate midfielder Lauren Brandau (Madison, Conn.) led the home team's offensive effort with a pair of shots, including one on frame.

Senior keeper Cassidy Scofield (Shelton, Conn.) stopped all three shots she faced to record her fourth career shutout for Albertus Magnus, while first year goalie Melanie Colman (Holliston, Mass.) registered nine saves for the Sharks.
