BOSTON, Mass. – The Simmons University women's soccer team played visiting Mount Holyoke College to a scoreless tie in double overtime this afternoon at Daly Field in Brighton, Mass. The Sharks are now 0-1-1 on the season after its second-ever meeting with MHC, while the Lyons stand at 0-0-1 following their season opener.

Simmons owned a slight 8-5 edge in shots, including the only two strikes of the overtime periods, while boasting a 6-2 advantage in corner kick opportunities.

First year goalkeeper Melanie Colman (Holliston, Mass.) stopped all three shots she faced to earn her first collegiate shutout for the Sharks, while junior Maria-Lucia Delgado (Bronx, N.Y.) also turned away three shots to record her first career shutout for Mount Holyoke.

Simmons looked to end the match in victory in the first overtime period when senior midfielder Kristen Mihalich (East Rockaway, N.Y.) sent a short centering cross from the right post to classmate Amber Nobbs (Granville, Mass.), who sent a strike just over the goal frame.

Nobbs received another scoring opportunity for the Sharks late in the opening half when she dribbled to the left side of the box to draw the MHC keeper out, but her ground shot went just wide of the far post to keep the contest scoreless.

Simmons returns to action on Saturday, September 7 when it hosts University of Massachusetts Boston for an 11:00 a.m. match at Daly Field, while the Lyons host Amherst College on September 5 at 6:00 p.m.
