WELLESLEY, MASS. -- The Simmons University women's soccer team was defeated by host Wellesley College, 4-0, this afternoon in Wellesley, Mass. The Sharks fall to 0-1-0 in their season opener, while the Blue improve to 1-0-0.

Wellesley dominated possession with a 23-5 shot advantage and took all five corner kicks in the match.

Senior midfielder Kristen Mihalich (East Rockaway, N.Y.) and junior midfielder Emma Trahant (Lynn, Mass.) paced the Simmons offensive effort with a pair of shots apiece. First year keeper Melanie Colman (Holliston, Mass.) turned away seven shots in her collegiate debut in net.

First year forward Thea Feldgoise (Brookline, Mass.) provided all the offense the Blue needed, figuring in all four goals, including her first collegiate hat trick in her debut to go with an assist. Classmate Eliza Roy (Camden, Maine) netted the other marker and assisted on a goal as well. Senior goalie Olivia Reckley (Grosse Isle, Mich.) stopped all three shots she faced in the first 74:51 of play, before first year keeper Kendall Lincoln (San Diego, Calif.) went untested in the final 15:09 to complete the shutout.

Feldgoise put Wellesley on the board with her first career score in the 16th minute of play and wasted no time getting her second tally just three minutes later for a 2-0 host advantage.

Feldgoise and rookie midfielder Gabriella Nicolosi (New York, N.Y.) combined to assist Roy on her first collegiate goal in the 68th minute for a 3-0 Blue lead.

Wellesley capped the scoring in the 75th minute when senior forward Hannah Knoll (Boise, Idaho) found Feldgoise for her third score of the day.

The Sharks return to action on Saturday, August 31, when they host Mount Holyoke College at Daly Field at 11:00 a.m., while the Blue host Lesley University on September 4 at 4:00 p.m.
