WINTHROP, Mass. – Simmons University's Cíara Forde (Quincy, Mass.) was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Player of the Week for the week of September 24-30, it was announced today by the league.

Forde earns the honor for the second straight week and becomes the first Shark to be named in back-to-back weeks since Kashka Gammon (2014-17) was recognized for the weeks of September 28 to October 4 and October 5-11, 2015.

The senior tallied 11 points on five goals and an assist in three matches for Simmons, including at least two points in every contest. The midfielder began the week a pair of multiple-goal efforts in as many nights, netting two goals in the team's 5-0 victory over Newbury College on September 25 and followed that performance by matching her career high with five points on two goals and an assist in a 10-1 triumph over Anna Maria College the next night. The North Quincy High School graduate closed out the week by netting a goal in a 2-1 win for the Sharks over host Regis (Mass.) on September 29, while extending her point-scoring streak to seven straight matches for the longest such string for a Shark since Allie Megna (2007-10) notched at least one point in seven consecutive contests from October 3-23, 2007.

Forde has enjoyed an outstanding season, starting all 10 matches, while racking up 22 points on 10 goals and two assists. The Tri-Captain is currently tied for the league lead in goals and game-winning markers, while ranking second in points. The midfielder has been extremely consistent this season, recording at least one point in all but two matches, while netting multiple goals on three occasions.

The four-year standout has been one of the program's most prolific scorers, netting 29 goals in 66 career matches for the second-most markers for any Simmons player over the past 15 years. Her point total of 69 ranks as the fourth-most over that time period and her 11 assists puts her seventh to go with eight game-winning tallies.

The Sharks have won seven matches in a row and own a 7-3-0 overall record, including 5-1-0 in league play to stand second in the league standings. Simmons will be in action again on Wednesday, October 3 when it hosts Suffolk University on Daly Field for a 7:00 p.m. match.
