Sharks Swim Away From AMCATS, 8-0

PAXTON, Mass. ? Sophomore Jennie Holloway (Hardwick, VT) scored two first half goals as the Simmons Sharks women?s soccer team defeated conference opponent Anna Maria College, 8-0, at AMCAT Field on Wednesday afternoon. The win improves the Sharks to 2-3, (1-0 GNAC) on the season, while the AMCATS fall to 0-5 (0-2 GNAC) overall.

PAXTON, Mass. – Sophomore Jennie Holloway (Hardwick, VT) scored two first half goals as the Simmons Sharks women's soccer team defeated conference opponent Anna Maria College, 8-0, at AMCAT Field on Wednesday afternoon. The win improves the Sharks to 2-3, (1-0 GNAC) on the season, while the AMCATS fall to 0-5 (0-2 GNAC) overall.

In addition to the two goals by Holloway, the Sharks also received two tallies from sophomore Kristyn Heuslein (Manchester, NH) and freshmen Alie Hill (Cheshire, Mass). Freshman Ally Ayotte and Keri Acheson (Peabody, Mass) rounded out the goals, while Justine Beauchamp (Exeter, NH), Kaitlyn Turmelle (Gardiner, Maine), Wellie Antonellis (Keene, NH) and Alma-Lynn Dupont each added assists.
Anna Maria senior Amanda Hevy (North Brookfield, Mass.) led the AMCATS in net with 11 first half saves, while goalie Samantha Ashton made 9 saves in the second half.

Simmons got on the board early in the first, as Heuslein scored an unassisted goal in the 7th minute of play for the 1-0 lead.

Holloway then scored her two goals in the 29th minute on a break-a-way and 33rd minute on a crossing pass from Turnelle.

Simmons held the AMCATS without a shot in the game.

Both teams return to action this Saturday, with Simmons hosting St. Joseph (CT) at 1:00 pm while AMC will travel to Pine Manor for a 1:00 pm match-up.
