BOSTON, Mass. – Sharks sophomore Desh Perera (Reading, Mass.) scored just 33 seconds into the game to give Simmons all the lead they would need in a 2-0 victory over the Emerson College Lions on an exceptionally rainy Wednesday evening at the Winsor School fields in Great Northeast Athletic Conference play.

The Sharks defense played with consistency as they routinely fed the midfield and offensive line, registering 33 shots to the Lions 10. Junior Justine Beauchamp (Exeter, N.H.) distributed the ball out wide to Perera and Ally Ayotte (Litchfield, N.H.) who kept the Lions defense on their toes.

Lions Amber Bigwood registered 2 shots on goal but Sharks goalkeeper Ashley Wheeler (Nashua, N.H.) came up with the saves.

Perera found the back of the net again in the second half after dribbling through the Lions defense and slipping the ball past Emerson keeper Alexandra Altman. The goal is Perera's seventh of the season, leading all Sharks in scoring.

With the win, the Sharks move to 7-7-2 overall and 6-4-2 in the GNAC. The Lions fall to 6-9-1 overall and 5-6-1 in the GNAC. Simmons travels to Johnson & Wales on Saturday, October 22nd for their final conference game at 12:00 p.m. Emerson will host Suffolk University on the same date at 2:00 p.m. for their last conference match.
