Sharks Topped by Cadets, 4-1

Simmons Soccer dropped a Great Northeast Athletic Conference matchup to Norwich University, 4-1, at home on Tuesday night. The Sharks outshot the Cadets 27-16, but were unable to find the back of the visitor?s net in the often-physical matchup. With the loss, Simmons falls to 4-5-1 (3-2-0 GNAC) on the season, while Norwich advances to 6-3-0 (4-1-0 GNAC).

With the loss, Simmons falls to 4-5-1 (3-2-0 GNAC) on the season, while Norwich advances to 6-3-0 (4-1-0 GNAC).

Simmons senior Allie Megna (North Hampton, N.H.) struck first for the Sharks in the third minute of play off a corner kick, but the Simmons offense was unable to strike again during the remainder of the contest.

Norwich sophomore Brittany Casey netted three of the Cadets' four goals, all unassisted, while junior Nora Osinski found her mark in the 75th minute from the bench.

In goal for the Sharks, sophomore Ashley Donaghey (Framingham, Mass.) allowed three goals and made five saves in 67 minutes in goal, while teammate Ashley Wheeler (Nashua, N.H.) made no saves and allowed one goal in the final 22 minutes.

Norwich keeper Alecia Wright played the full 90 minutes for the Cadets and made 15 saves.

Simmons will travel to Connecticut to take on the Saint Joseph College Blue Jays on Saturday, October 2 at 1:00pm. Norwich will visit Emmanuel College on the same day at 3:00pm.
