In a reversal of roles from the day before, Simmons Soccer attacked Sunday's home and GNAC opener against Albertus Magnus College, and came out with the 2-1 win over the Falcons.

"We came out on fire today," said Head Coach Erica Mastrogiacomo. " We knew that, being a conference game, it was important to get a win."

Sophomore midfielder Brooke MacKenzie (Mansfield, MA) found the goal in the first half with a shot from outside the 18, as Simmons played a controlled game with dominant possession. Albertus' Sam Gigliotti (Wilton, CT) scored with 3 minutes remaining in the half.

The Sharks' second goal came in overtime with an assist from sophomore forward Allie Megna (Plymouth, MA), shot across the box from the left side to sophomore midfielder Anna Stella (Sharon, MA), who finished the rebound off a Falcon miss-clearance.

"We played aggressive soccer and kept better possession," said Mastrogiacomo. "The team showed courage and refused to give up."

The Sharks' next outing will be on Wednesday, September 3 at 4 p.m. at MIT.
