DARTMOUTH, Mass. --  Sophomore midfielder Molly Reinhold (Mystic, Conn.) tallied five points, including four goals, to lead the Simmons University women's lacrosse team in an 11-9 loss to host University of Massachusetts Dartmouth this evening at Cressy Field in Dartmouth, Mass. The Sharks fall to 5-5 on the season, while the Corsairs improve to 4-5.

Simmons outshot UMass Dartmouth by a 34-21 margin overall (23-17 on goal), and the Sharks held a 15-7 edge in draw controls in the first meeting between the two schools.

Reinhold added three ground balls for Simmons, while senior midfielder Elena Bragg (Belmont, Mass.) picked up the second of three ground balls on the night with 6:32 left in the first have to become the Sharks' all-time leader in ground balls with 136. She now has 137 during her tenure at Simmons and added a goal, six draw controls and caused a turnover. Junior attacker Kingsley Richards (Lexington, Mass.) scored a pair of goals and added an assist to go with five ground balls and a caused turnover, while senior midfielder Mallory Cottam (Hope, R.I.) contributed with two markers, a game-high eight draw controls, four ground balls and three caused turnovers.  Sophomore goalie Cat Cross (Beverly, Mass.) stopped six shots for the Sharks.  

First year Isabella Mancini (Bellingham, Mass.) netted a hat trick to back a 14-save effort in goal from senior Kaitlyn Burchill (Bridgewater, Mass.). Senior Brooke Scahill (Gales Ferry, Conn.) added two goals on the night for the Corsairs, who received a marker and helper from first year Hannah Niemi (Fairhaven, Mass.) along with freshman Kara McLaughlin's (Hanover, Mass.) first collegiate tally. Senior Brooke Martel (Haverhill, Mass.) added an assist for UMass Dartmouth, as Burchill made eight second half stops en route to her third victory of the season.  

The host Corsairs rallied from a 6-5 halftime deficit to take a 7-6 lead on senior Angela Correia's (Bridgewater, Mass.) tally with 18:57 to play in the contest, but the visiting Sharks struck for three scores in just 1:51 of action to grab a 9-7 advantage on Reinhold's marker with 16:45 remaining. UMass Dartmouth's defense held Simmons without a goal for the remainder of the contest, while the offense began a comeback that put together four goals in a 4:28 span, as junior Sam Muir (Sturbridge, Mass.) evened matters with 11:13 to play on a free position conversion before Mancini gave the hosts' the lead for good just 11 seconds later. Niemi tacked on an insurance tally with 9:20 remaining to account for the final margin, and Burchill made that stand up with five crucial saves (including three free position shots) in the last eight plus minutes of action. 

Simmons is idle until next Wednesday, April 10 when it entertains Lasell College in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference action at Daly Field at 7:00 p.m., while UMass Dartmouth hosts Eastern Connecticut State University in a Little East Conference clash on April 6 at Cressy Field beginning at 3:00 p.m.
