Crew Ranked 11th in latest US Rowing/CRCA National Poll

BOSTON, Mass. - Simmons College Crew's Varsity One Eight boat is ranked 11th in the nation in the second regular season USRowing/Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association Division III Collegiate Rowing Poll presented by Pocock Racing Shells it was announced by the CRCA.

Simmons College Crew's Varsity One Eight boat is ranked 11th in the nation in the second regular season USRowing/Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association Division III Collegiate Rowing Poll presented by Pocock Racing Shells it was announced by the CRCA.

The Sharks received 36 votes following their first week of competition for the spring season. Simmons returns to the national rankings for the first time since it was tied for 15th in the May 1, 2013 poll. Williams College received 146 votes, including six first place nods to top the poll, while Bates College sits second with 144 votes, including four first place ballots.

The Sharks 1V boat also earned New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference Boat of the Week honors this week after placing second to Massachusetts Institute of Technology as part of the Charles River Racing Series #1 on March 26, which also included United States Coast Guard Academy and Smith College.  

Simmons current varsity eight line-up includes senior stroke Chelsea Foster (Avon, Conn.), senior Sophie Stone (Greenland, N.H.) in the seven seat, followed by sophomores Ronnie Bennett (Pottstown, Pa.)Phoebe Knox(Scituate, Mass.)Erica Bartle (Arlington, Mass.)Erin Lilienthal (East Lyme, Conn.), senior Jess Randolph (Concord, N.C.) and classmate Jill Bolduc (Methuen, Mass.) in the bow seat. The shell is directed by junior coxswain Olivia Smiaroski (Northfield, Mass.).

The Sharks will compete again this weekend when they take on MIT and Bates on Saturday, April 2 and will return the following day at the Wellesley Invitational. Both regattas will take place on the Charles River in Boston/Cambridge, Mass.
