BRIGHTON, Mass. – Simmons tennis (3-5) dropped a midweek, non-conference match to Eastern Nazarene College (9-2) on Wednesday afternoon.

The Lyons jumped out to an early, 3-0, lead with a sweep of doubles. Simmons' second doubles tandem of senior Sara Fucillo and junior Emily Lopez put up a fight against Katie Cawthorne and Mya Landry before falling, 8-4.

First-year Ainsley Foster and sophomore Laura Lowe battled Eilym Gomez and Yihat Yunis in third doubles, while first doubles first-years Emilie Lapointe and Emma Parson went up against Sara Poletto and Sofia Rojas. However, Eastern Nazarene was able to pull out matching 8-4 wins in both sets.

Competing in her first singles match of the season, Foster nearly forced a decisive third set against the Lions' Landry in fifth singles. After dropping the first set, 6-2, Foster made Landry work in the second set to earn the 7-6 (9-7) win.

In fourth singles, Parsons also performed well. Despite dropping the first set, 6-2, against Cawthorne, Parsons claimed three games in the second set before falling, 6-3.
