Lapointe Sweeps GNAC Player and Rookie of Week Honors

WINTHROP, Mass. – First-year Emilie Lapointe secured both the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Player and Rookie of the Week honors announced Monday afternoon.

From the top of the lineup, Lapointe guided the Sharks to a 2-0 week. Midway through the week in a non-conference match against Suffolk University, she paired with Julia Perconti to win first doubles, 8-4, for her first doubles victory. Lapointe closed out the week winning both her singles and doubles matches in an 8-1 win over Thomas College. After winning first doubles, 8-3, Lapointe won first singles quickly, defeating Lauren Smith in two sets, 6-1, 6-0.

Simmons returns to the courts on Wednesday, September 13 when they travel to Norton, Massachusetts to face Wheaton College at 4 p.m.
