Weed, Halloran Headline Tennis On The GNAC All-Conference Squad

WINTHROP, Mass. – Senior Libby Weed was named to Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) All-Conference Singles First Team announced Monday morning.

Weed a had career year on the courts, registering a 7-4 singles mark, including a 4-1 record against conference opponents. Competing primarily at third singles, she propelled the Sharks to clinch the third seed, with a come-from-behind three-set win over Lesley University's Morgan Anderson (4-6, 6-1, 6-4) on Sunday, October 2.

Joining Weed amongst the all-conference honorees was her second doubles partner, first-year Annabelle Halloran. Halloran earned GNAC All-Rookie Team accolades after a successful first-year. Posting a 5-5 overall singles record from the middle of the Sharks' lineup, she won her last four singles matches to help Simmons claim the third seed in the GNAC post-season.

Additionally, Halloran paired with Weed at second doubles and the duo was a formidable pairing that gave conference headaches. Recording a 3-1 doubles record against GNAC opponents, Halloran and Weed won two of their last three matches, which included an 8-7 tie-break win over University of St. Joseph (Conn.) to help the Sharks advance to the semifinals.

The pair will be back for the spring season when they open up against Bentley University on April 14, 2023 at Daly Field.
