Tennis's Season Comes to a Close with 5-0 Loss to Regis in Semifinals

BRIGHTON, Mass. – Simmons tennis's season comes to a close following a 5-0 loss to the third seeded Regis College in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) semifinals on Saturday afternoon.

Looking for redemption from its loss on September 25, the Pride came out of the gate strong with a sweep of doubles. Regis second doubles tandem Stephanie Beatrice and Kaitlyn Colby got the day started with an 8-3 decision over Leah Bonis and Sam Margolin in second doubles. Kaeliegh FitzPatrick and Samantha Gevry took third doubles, 8-4. Seniors Sarah Mariski and Megan McKeever battled Pride senior Katelyn and Lauren Mogelnicki in first doubles, but ended up falling 8-5.

In singles, Colby defeated first-year Avery Halloran in two sets, 6-0, 6-1 in sixth, while FitzPatrick sealed the match in fifth singles. FitzPatrick earned at tight two-set decision over McKeever, 6-4, 6-1.

Simmons season comes to closed, ending the year at 7-4, including a 5-1 GNAC record.
