WINTHROP, Mass. – First-year Avery Halloran swept both Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Player and Rookie of the Week honors to open the 2021-22 academic year announced Monday afternoon.

Halloran guided the Sharks to a 3-1 mark to begin the season, posting a perfect 3-0 singles record to go along with a 3-1 doubles record since Sept. 3. Early in the week, Halloran blanked non-conference Curry College's Cayla Oronski in two-sets, 6-0, 6-0, in third singles. After picking up another non-conference singles victory against Salem State last Wednesday, she helped the Sharks open GNAC action at 1-0 following an 8-1 win against Albertus Magnus. Against the Falcons, she paired with Sam Margolin to an 8-4 doubles victory and help the Sharks sweep doubles, before blanking Cara Dominello in singles, 6-0, 6-0.

The Sharks return to the courts on Wednesday when they host GNAC foe Colby-Sawyer at 4 p.m. at Daly Field.
