Schroedl Named GNAC Women's Tennis Rookie of the Week

BOSTON, Mass. ? Simmons College?s Jessica Schroedl (Staatsburg, N.Y.) has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Women?s Tennis Rookie of the Week for the week of September 12-18, it was announced today by the league.

BOSTON, Mass. – Simmons College's Jessica Schroedl (Staatsburg, N.Y.) has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Rookie of the Week for the week of September 12-18, it was announced today by the league. 

The first year player posted a combined 2-0 record in the Sharks' only dual match of the week. Schroedl combined with junior Olivia Lakes (Dorchester, Mass.) to record an 8-5 victory at number one doubles over University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) on September 17. The rookie later came back to drop just two games in a 6-1, 6-1 win at first singles over the Blue Jays to help Simmons to a 7-2 dual match victory. 

Schroedl has played at number one singles and doubles in all five matches for the Sharks, owning a combined 2-8 record, including 1-4 in both singles and doubles action. 

Simmons is currently 1-4 on the season, including 1-0 in GNAC play and will be in action again on Tuesday, September 20 when it hosts Suffolk University at 7:00 p.m. in pursuit of its 60th consecutive regular-season conference win.
