Tennis Trumps Wildcats, 7-2

BABSON PARK, Mass.?Babson College won two of three doubles matches and swept all six matches in singles play, cruising to an 8-1 victory over Simmons College in non-conference women?s tennis action on Wednesday afternoon at Farwell Courts.

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Simmons tennis defeated the Johnson & Wales Wildcats, 7-2 to remain undefeated in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Sunday afternoon. 

WORCESTER, Mass. - Four Holy Cross women's tennis players won both of their respective singles and double matches, as the Crusaders defeated Simmons, 6-1, on Saturday afternoon at the Sinnott Family Tennis Facility. With the win, the Crusaders improve to 6-8 on the season, while the Sharks fall to 13-3 overall. 

AMHERST, Mass. -- Simmons Tennis defeated Gwynedd-Mercy College 5-2 in the first round of the 2014 Division III NCAA Tennis Championships Thursday afternoon at Amherst College.

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Simmons tennis defeated the Johnson & Wales Wildcats, 7-2 to remain undefeated in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Sunday afternoon. The Sharks are now 9-2 overall and 5-0 in the conference, while the Wildcats fall to 8-2 overall and 4-1 in the GNAC.

 

The Sharks took a 2-1 lead after doubles play as Margaret Teague (Manchester, N.H.) teamed up with Meghan Cokely (Haverhill, Mass.) to defeat Samantha Jo Borr and Ansley Sego 8-2 in the number one spot and Rachael Downey (Groveland, Mass.) and Kristi Mielbye (Hanson, Mass.) topped Gabrielle Longo and Emily Glass, 8-2 at number three. In a heated second doubles match, Morgan Thompson and Darcy Predieri defeated Sofie Epshtein (Newton, Mass.) and Theresa Reinhard (Canton, Ohio), 9-7.

 

In singles play, Teague came back to defeat Jo Borr 1-6, 6-1, 10-4 at the number one position, while, Reinhard, Cokely, Epshtein and Downey all picked up wins for the Sharks. Glass defeated Cathy Baker (Simsbury, Conn.) 3-2 by retirement at the number six spot for the Wildcats second point.

 

Simmons returns to action on Monday, Oct. 14 versus the University of Saint Joseph at 12:00 PM at Harvard University.
