Sharks Top Hawks, 6-3

BRISTOL, R.I. ? Simmons Tennis posted their second win of the season as the Sharks defeated Roger Williams University 6-3, Wednesday afternoon.

BRISTOL, R.I. – Simmons Tennis posted their second win of the season as the Sharks defeated Roger Williams University 6-3, Wednesday afternoon. The Hawks continues to look for their first home win of the season.

 

The Sharks fell behind early as the Hawks got off to a strong start, taking #2 and #3 doubles for an early 2-1 lead. Alexandra Brown and Lauren Schmidt teamed up to defeat Rachael Downey (Groveland, Mass.) and Sofie Epshtein (Newton, Mass.) 8-2 at #2, while Emma Limburg and Adriana Maconochie defeated Caroline Khoury (Portsmouth, Ohio) and Theresa Reinhard (Canton, Ohio) 8-3 at #3. Margaret Teague (Manchester, N.H.) and Megan Cokely (Haverhill, Mass.) secured the Sharks first point with an 8-6 win at first doubles.

 

Simmons came back to take five of the singles flights for the victory. Teague defeated Samantha Curran 6-3, 7-5 at the number one spot while Reinhard, Cokely, Downey and Cathy Baker (Simsbury, Conn.) all notched wins for the Sharks. Brown notched the sole victory for the Hawks at singles, defeating Ephstein 2-6, 7-5, 10-6 at #4.

 

Roger Williams (1-2) will host Endicott on Saturday, while Simmons (2-1) will travel to Clark on the same date.
