Simmons Tennis Downs Colby College 7-2

WATERVILLE, Maine ? Simmons tennis increased their eight-match winning streak to nine when they defeated NESCAC foe, the Colby College Mules, 7-2 in non-conference play on Monday afternoon.

BOSTON, Mass. -- Simmons tennis defeated Clark University 7-2 Friday afternoon, with a sweep of the doubles matches in preparation for the NCAA tournament in two weeks.

WATERVILLE, Maine – Simmons tennis increased their eight-match winning streak to nine when they defeated NESCAC foe, the Colby College Mules, 7-2 in non-conference play on Monday afternoon.

The Sharks doubles team of Allison Bodek (Lynnfield, Mass.) and Margaret Teague (Manchester, N.H.) defeated Tess Perese and Sarah Wiener 8-5 in the #1 doubles position, while Andree Sime (Bradenton, Fla.) and Sabrina Salmela (Beverly, Mass.) joined to defeated Kathryn Vergeyle and Victoria Abel by the same score.

In singles play, Teague was victorious over Perese for the second time 6-3, 6-3 at #1 singles, while Salmela fought back after losing the first set to defeat Wiener 4-6, 6-2, 6-0 at #2 singles.

Bodek eliminated Vergeyle at #3 singles 6-1, 6-1, to earn her second point for the Sharks, and Sime and Nicole Eskenazi (Goleta, Calif.) each were victorious to seal the win for the Sharks.

With the win, the Sharks move to 9-3 overall and 7-0 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference play.

Simmons tennis will travel to Anna Maria College on Wednesday, October 12th for a 3:00 p.m. GNAC conference match up.
