Eskenazi Named GNAC Player Of The Week in Tennis

Simmons freshman Nicole Eskenazi (Goleta, Calif.) has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Tennis Player of the Week, the GNAC announced on Tuesday. BOSTON, Mass. ? Simmons Tennis came from behind to defeat Mount Holyoke College 5-4 at The Winsor School courts Friday evening, giving the Sharks their first win of the 2011 season.

Simmons freshman Nicole Eskenazi (Goleta, Calif.) has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Tennis Player of the Week, the GNAC announced on Tuesday.

Eskenazi had an impressive first collegiate match against powerhouse Wheaton College on Saturday. She fell 8-6 in doubles and 7-6, 7-5 in singles but showed strength and skill in her play, and will be an integral part of the team's success this season.

"Nicole showed poise and confidence as she battled hard in all of her matches against the Lyons," said Coach Rauseo. The Sharks will look to Eskenazi to make an immediate impact this season.
