BOSTON, Mass. - Simmons Tennis was relentless in a 9-0 routing of Great Northeast Athletic Conference rival Saint Joseph College (Maine) Saturday afternoon at The Winsor School courts.
The Sharks jumped out to an early 3-0 lead after the doubles matches, pacing the play for the singles contests. Sabrina Salmela (Beverly, Mass.) defeated Lisa Wawryznowski (Newington, Conn.) at the #1 Singles position 6-0, 6-1, while Andree Sime (Bradenton, Fla.) followed up with a win over Kameshia Cooper (Beacon, N.Y.) in straight sets 6-0, 6-0.
Rachel Sweeney (Norfolk, Mass.), Kristi Mielbye (Hanson, Mass.), and Heather Rotti (Clinton, Mass.) each picked up their first wins of the season to finish the sweep of the Blue Jays.
The Sharks host GNAC conference member Mount Ida on Wednesday, September 21st at 4:00 p.m. while the Blue Jays travel to Johnson & Wales for a 4:00 p.m. conference match.
