Simmons Tennis Claims Victory Over Mustangs

BOSTON, Mass. ? Simmons Tennis improved to 2-0 in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Wednesday, defeating the Mount Ida Mustangs 9-0 at The Winsor School courts. Freshman Julie Ngo (Brockton, Mass.) picked up her first win of the season, defeating Loni Klimbach (Rochester, N.Y.) 6-0, 7-5 in the #5 Singles position.

Freshman Julie Ngo (Brockton, Mass.) picked up her first win of the season, defeating Loni Klimbach (Rochester, N.Y.) 6-0, 7-5 in the #5 Singles position.

Sharks Sabrina Salmela (Beverly, Mass.) and Nicole Eskenazi (Goleta, Calif.) did not drop a set in 6-0, 6-0 wins in the #1 and #2 Singles spots against the Mustangs' Amy Warner (Liverpool, N.Y.) and Kayla Horton (Brockton, Mass.), respectively. This marks Salmela's second straight singles win for the Sharks.

In doubles action, Allison Bodek (Lynnfield, Mass.) and Margaret Teague (Manchester, N.H.) defeated Warner and Elyse Horton (Brockton, Mass.) 8-0 while Kristie Mielbye (Hanson, Mass.) and Rosanna Driscoll (Pacific Palisades, Calif.) kept the advantage against Melissa Smith (Warren, Conn.) and K. Horton, winning the match 8-3.

The Sharks travel to Emerson College for another conference match up on Saturday, September 24th at 12:00 p.m. at the President's Golf Club in Quincy, Mass. The Mustangs travel to Johnson & Wales for a 12:00 match also on Saturday, September 24th.
