Salmela Garners Third GNAC Rookie of the Week Honor

Freshman Tennis athlete Sabrina Salmela (Beverly, Mass.) earned Great Northeast Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week honors for the third week running, the GNAC announced on Monday.

Freshman Tennis athlete Sabrina Salmela (Beverly, Mass.) earned Great Northeast Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week honors for the third week running, the GNAC announced on Monday.

Salmela's honors come after a 4-0 week; 2-0 at #1 singles and 2-0 at #1 doubles with partner Maile Macleod (Carlsbad, Calif.). The Sharks earned an 8-1 victory over UMass Dartmouth, last year's Little East Conference Champions, and GNAC competition Mount Ida College. Simmons is now 3-0 in the GNAC, tied for first place with Suffolk and Emmanuel.

Simmons Tennis will return to competition on Tuesday, September 29, when they host GNAC rivals Johnson & Wales at 4:00pm at home.
