Simmons Tennis Tops GNAC Preseason Coaches’ Poll

Simmons Tennis earned the number one ranking in Great Northeast Athletic Conference preseason voting, the conference office announced on Wednesday. The Sharks captured the 2008 GNAC championship for the fourth time in five years, after posting a 12-6 overall record and 9-0 GNAC record.

The Great Northeast Athletic Conference recognized 530 student-athletes from 15 league sports on the 2010 Great Northeast Athletic Conference Academic All-Conference Team. 40 Simmons athletes received the honor, and all seven of the Simmons varsity programs sponsored by the GNAC were represented on this year?s Academic All-Conference Team.

Simmons earned 48 points in the poll and 9 first-place votes, preceding Suffolk with 41 points and one first-place vote. Suffolk was followed by Johnson and Wales, Emmanuel, Emerson and Saint Joseph (Conn.) to round out the top six.
