Simmons Tennis added another victory to their season on Saturday, dominating Saint Joseph College Connecticut 8-1. The Sharks are now 3-3 overall and 2-0 in GNAC play.

The Sharks swept all three double matches and five of the six singles. Senior Stacey Kohan (Milford, CT) made her debut at the #1 spot, beating her opponent from St. Joe's 6-0, 6-0.

"Stacey showed no nerves playing her first career match at the #1 singles position in front of friends and family in her home state," said Head Coach Bob Rauseo. Kohan followed up with a doubles win at #1, partnered with junior Dominika Hudcova (Malden, MA), to triumph over Alicia Lienhop and Sylvia Ranger 8-5.

Also noteworthy were the first career singles victories by Athena Lynch (Andover, MA) and Hannah Rittershaus (Braintree, MA). Lynch won her match over Laura Curley 6-1, 6-0, while Rittershaus sailed by Anna Whalen in 6-2, 6-2.

"Despite resting three starters due to playing our fourth match in eight days, we didn't miss a beat," said Rauseo. "It was a perfect match to showcase our depth and take a look into the future. Obviously, I'm very pleased."

Simmons Tennis will face off against Pine Manor at home on Tuesday, September 16 at 4:00pm.
