Rauseo Named GNAC Coach of the Year

Simmons? Bob Rauseo was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Women?s Tennis Coach of the Year for the third time in his four-year tenure with the Sharks. His three GNAC Coach of the Year awards are first all-time among conference coaches.

Simmons' Bob Rauseo was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Coach of the Year for the third time in his four-year tenure with the Sharks. His three GNAC Coach of the Year awards are first all-time among conference coaches.

"I am thrilled to learn of Coach Rauseo's selection as GNAC Coach of the Year, said Simmons' Director of Athletics Ali Kantor.  "Bob has taken this year's talented team to the top.  He is a great teacher, positive motivator and develops our athletes to reach higher.  He deserves this honor and I am thrilled he has been recognized by his peers"

In his fourth season as head coach at Simmons, Rauseo led one of the top teams in New England with an 11-5 overall record, 7-0 in conference play.  With its 7-0 conference record, the Sharks captured the 2008 GNAC regular season title for the fourth time in school history.  Rauseo also guided Simmons to its fourth GNAC Tournament Championship Title.   

"Bob has worked very hard and is truly deserving of this honor," said Simmons' Assistant Athletic Director Sherren Granese.  "He has brought a very young team together and has them playing at an exceptionally high level."

The head coach at Simmons since 2005, Rauseo has guided Simmons to 49 victories over the last four years.  He owns a career record of 49-19 and has led the Sharks to four postseason appearances, including three GNAC regular season and tournament titles (2005, 2006, 2008) and two NCAA berths.
