Taylor Named GNAC Rookie of the Week

Simmons College freshman Maggie Taylor (Yarmouth, Maine) was named the GNAC Women?s Tennis Rookie of the Week as announced by the Great Northeast Athletic Conference on Tuesday.

Simmons College freshman Maggie Taylor (Yarmouth, Maine) was named the GNAC Women's Tennis Rookie of the Week as announced by the Great Northeast Athletic Conference on Tuesday. 

"Maggie has had a very nice to start to her collegiate career," said Head Coach Bob Rauseo.  "I often forget that she's a freshman because she plays with so much poise and confidence under pressure."

Taylor helped lead the Sharks past previously undefeated UMass-Dartmouth last Wednesday, registering wins in both her singles and doubles matches.  Taylor teamed up with fellow freshman Liza Pope (West Newbury, Mass.) to knock of the Corsairs pair of Kelsey Grossmann and Alexa Fiorita, 8-3.  Taylor earned her third singles victory of the season by defeating UMass-Dartmouth's Allison DeAngelis, (2-6), 7-5, 6-0 at no. 4 singles.
