Simmons Tennis hosted Endicott College on Saturday in a preparation match for the NCAA Division III Tournament in May. The Sharks bested the Gulls, 6-3, in a strong showing after finishing the fall season undefeated in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference.
The number one doubles team of Maile Macleod and Stacey Kohan fell to Endicott's team of Kate Cioffi and Alyson Boehm, 8-4.
The number two doubles team of Liza Pope and Maggie Taylor defeated Lori Wardner and Rachael Layton, 8-1.
The third doubles team of Athena Lynch and Jordan Borash defeated Endicott's pairing of Kate Fiske and Jenna Carme, 9-7.
The Sharks' first singles player Kohan fell to Cioffi, 6-2, 6-3.
Other Simmons victories came from Simmons' number two singles player Maile Macleod over Endicott's Wardner, 6-3, 6-4. Number three Simmons singles Taylor defeated Alyson Boehm, 7-5, 6-2. Simmons Tennis will compete in the opening round NCAA Division III Women's Tennis tournament on Friday, May 8, time and location to be announced.
