Basketball Receives Team Sportsmanship Award from GNAC; Brasa Named to Individual Team

WINTHROP, Mass. - The Simmons College women's basketball team was the recipient of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference women's basketball Institutional Sportsmanship Award for the 2014-15 season, while Liz Brasa (East Hartford, CT) was named to the All-Sportsmanship Team it was announced today by the league.

WINTHROP, Mass. - The Simmons College women's basketball team was the recipient of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference women's basketball Institutional Sportsmanship Award for the 2014-15 season, while Liz Brasa (East Hartford, CT) was named to the All-Sportsmanship Team it was announced today by the league.

The Sharks received the honors as part of the conference's post-season awards. 

Simmons committed the second-fewest total of personal fouls for the season, averaging just 17.0 infractions per game. The Sharks were assessed just one technical foul in 4,825 minutes of play this season.

Brasa started 21 of 24 games for Simmons and led the team with 7.5 rebounds per game, while netting 10.8 points per game to rank second on the squad. She also placed second for the Sharks with 15 blocks on the season.

I'm extremely pleased that Elizabeth was chosen for this award," said Head Coach Kristen Rasmussen Tarr. "She is a hard working player, who puts others before her self.  She conducts herself with class, both on and off the court."

Simmons finished the season with a 5-19 record, including 1-10 in conference play.
