Sharks Sunk By Judges, 65-36

BOSTON, Mass. -- Simmons Basketball fell the visiting Brandeis University Judges, 65-36 in non-conference action Monday evening at the Holmes Sports Center. The Sharks fall to 1-7 on the season while the Judges improve to .500 at 4-4. 

NEWTON, Mass. -- Simmons Basketball fell to the Lasell College Lasers 71-52, on Saturday afternoon. With the victory, the Lasers improved to 10-11 this year, and 3-4 in GNAC play, while the Sharks fell to 2-16 overall, and 0-7 in the GNAC.

NEWTON, Mass. ? Simmons Basketball fell to the Mount Ida College Mustangs 55-51 in their final game of the season on Saturday afternoon in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action at the Mount Ida Athletic Center.

Simmons was led by seniors Leah Davis (Cranston, R.I.), who scored 11 points and picked up three rebounds, while Hannah May (Hamden, Conn.) buried three shots from behind the arc for nine points and four defensive rebounds.

 

Pacing the Judges was Nicolina Vitale, who posted 12 points and 4 assists and Kasey Dean, who added nine points. Kaley Marston and Angela Miller came off the bench to score seven points apiece, while Maria Jackson dominated in the paint with 11 rebounds.

 

The Judges took a 31-15 first half lead, and never trailed, as Vitale, Dean, Paris Hodges and Miller adding six points apiece. Hannah May hit two three-pointers to close the gap for the Sharks but Brandeis kept up the pressure.

 

In the second half, the Judges opened with six straight points before the Sharks buried two threes and a layup by Davis to cut the deficit to 16. The Judges went on an unanswered 13-point run and cruised to a 65-36 victory.

 

The Sharks return to the court after the holiday break when they will face Mount Holyoke, Agnes Scott and Fisher College on Jan. 2, 4, and 6th.  The Judges face Husson University on Dec. 31 at 1:00 PM.
