Sharks Fall After Second Half Run By Cougars

BOSTON, Mass. -- Simmons basketball dropped their 2012-2013 home opener to the Clark University Cougars, 68-49 Tuesday evening at the Holmes Sports Center. The Sharks (0-3) tied the game twice during the second half but were unable to hang on as the Clark improved to 3-0.

WALTHAM, Mass. ? Simmons basketball fell to the Brandeis University Judges 69-37 Tuesday evening in non-conference action. Brandeis was led by junior guard Kasey Dean, who scored a game-high 12 points on 5-of-10 from the floor. Dean also finished with a game- and season-high six assists, two shy of a career-best. 

BOSTON, Mass. ? A huge game from Kristin Brice for 20 points and 15 rebounds led the way Saturday afternoon as the Emerson Women's Basketball Team edged the Simmons Sharks 62-57 in overtime. With the win the Lions improve to 5-9 on the year and 1-2 in conference play as the Sharks fall to 2-9 overall and 0-1 in the GNAC.

BOSTON, Mass. -- The Simmons Sharks fell to the Suffolk University Rams, 74-49 Thursday Night in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Women's Basketball action. The Rams improved to a 19-5 mark on the year while the loss drops Simmons to a 4-17 record on the year, and 2-9 mark in GNAC play.

With crisp passing and tight defense, the Cougars claimed an early ten point lead with sharp shooting by Emily Reilly, who went four for twelve and six for eight from the foul line for 15 points. Megan Grondin added 12 points and posted five rebounds and three steals.

The Sharks were led by captains Hannah May (Hamden, Conn.) and Liz O'Connor (Milton, Mass.), who each scored 10 points. Freshman Jen Janiak (Chelmsford, Mass.) added eight and and Olivia LaCroix (Manachester, N.H.) recorded three assists and three steals.

Simmons tied the game at 38 when freshman Eliza Henley (Warner, N.H.) scored six straight points to begin the second half. But Brooke Brennan buried four shots from behind the arc to lift the Cougars to their third consecutive victory.

The Sharks return to action on Monday, November 26th at home versus Wellesley College at 7:00 p.m., while Clark hosts Springfield College on November 28th to open NEWMAC conference play.
