Sharks Top Lasers, 47-39

Simmons Basketball rolled to a 47-39 win over visiting Lasell College in Thursday night?s Great Northeast Athletic Conference matchup at the Holmes Sports Center. With the win, the Sharks advance to 6-7 (1-1 GNAC) while the Lasers fall to 1-12 (0-3 GNAC).

Simmons Basketball rolled to a 47-39 win over visiting Lasell College in Thursday night's Great Northeast Athletic Conference matchup at the Holmes Sports Center. With the win, the Sharks advance to 6-7 (1-1 GNAC) while the Lasers fall to 1-12 (0-3 GNAC).

Simmons was led by junior Alex Acloque (Randolph, Mass.) with 11 points and 7 rebounds, while classmate Brittany Dolloff (Hollis, N.H.) scored 8 points for the Sharks. Sophomore Liz O'Connor (Milton, Mass.) had 7 points and 14 rebounds on the night.

The Lasers were led by Kayla Vincelette, who tipped in 12 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. Katie Farr contributed 8 points, and Kim Archibald was an impressive defensive presence on the court with 7 points, a game-high 22 rebounds and 3 blocks.

Simmons held Lasell to a 24-10 margin at the end of the first half, and controlled the pace of the game in the opening of the second. Lasell found a scoring rhythm and stepped up their defense to pull within ten points in the last minutes of the game, but Simmons held on and pulled away for the 47-39 win.

Simmons will next host GNAC foe Norwich University on Saturday, January 15 at 1:00pm. Lasell will travel to Albertus Magnus for a 1:00pm GNAC contest on Monday, January 15.
