Sharks Down Falcons, 68-63

Simmons Basketball muscled through the Fitchburg State Falcons in Thursday night?s non-conference matchup, 68-63. Sophomore guard Jessica Thomas (East Sandwich, Mass.) netted a career-high 20 points on the night to lead the way for the Sharks. With the win, Simmons advances to 4-2 (0-0 GNAC), while Fitchburg falls to 2-4 on the season.

Simmons Basketball fell to Norwich University, 73-53, in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest Saturday afternoon at Andrews Hall. With the win, Norwich keeps a perfect 3-0 in the conference (11-4 overall), while Simmons slips to 9-5 overall, 2-1 GNAC.

The Sharks were led by Thomas, senior forward Stephanie Fox (West Springfield, Mass.), who shot for 15 points and 13 rebounds, and senior Julianna Eagles (Quincy, Mass.) who had 15 points of her own.

Simmons dominated first half play, outscoring the Falcons 39-26. After the break, the Falcons gave the Sharks plenty of trouble, and came close to evening out the battle. Fitchburg outscored Simmons 37-29, just six points away from the lead at the buzzer.

Fitchburg was lead by junior guard Molly Maloney with 19 points and 8 assists, and followed closely by junior Kelley Rogers with 16 points. Sophomore Rebecca Goreham tallied 10 rebounds on the night.

Simmons will return to action on Tuesday, December 8 at 7:00pm, when they host the UMass Dartmouth Corsairs.
