Sharks Edged By Emerson, 62-58

Simmons Basketball fell to Emerson College, 62-58, in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference game on Wednesday night, despite a late charge that brought the Sharks as close as two points from the Lions. With the loss, Simmons falls to 13-7 overall, 5-3 GNAC, while Emerson advances to 11-9 overall, 6-1 GNAC.

Senior forward Stephanie Fox (West Springfield, Mass.) was good for 16 points and six blocks on the night, followed by senior guard Julianna Eagles (Quincy, Mass.) with 15 points. Freshman guard Liz O'Connor (Milton, Mass.) chipped in 10 points and seven rebounds.

Emerson's Lauren Zaniboni tallied a game-high 18 points and also made 11 rebounds, four assists and two blocks. Teammate Jackie Williams totaled 12 points and three steals, while Amy Sherman contributed 10 points in the Lions' victory.

Simmons will face GNAC opponent Albertus Magnus College on Tuesday, February 9 at 7:00pm; and will host WBCA Pink Zone night to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer. Emerson will also host the Falcons on February 6 at 2:00pm at home.
