Basketball Overwhelms Wheelock, 66-18

Simmons Basketball hosted Fenway rival Wheelock College Tuesday night in their home opener, besting the Wildcats 66-18. With the win, the Sharks advance to 3-1 on the season, while Wheelock falls to 0-2. The teams participated in Passionate Purple Night to raise funds and awareness for the Lupus Foundation of America.

Senior forward Stephanie Fox (West Springfield, Mass.) scored 19 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for the Sharks for her second double-double of the season, and was also a perfect 4-4 in free throws. Senior guard Julianna Eagles (Quincy, Mass.) was right behind Fox, netting 18 points and 4-4 in free throws on the night. Freshman Liz O'Connor (Milton, Mass.) grabbed seven rebounds, and sophomore Jessica Thomas (East Sandwich, Mass.) earned four assists for Simmons.

Simmons will return after the Thanksgiving break when they to travel to Trinity College on Tuesday, December 1 for a 7:30pm tip-off.
