Basketball Romps to Win Over Lasell, 66-45

Simmons Basketball won their matchup against Lasell College on Saturday, 66-45, extending their conference winning streak to four games, and clinched a spot in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference tournament with a 6-2 GNAC record, 15-6 overall. With the loss, the Lazers fall to 6-15 overall, 3-5 GNAC.

Freshman forward Alex Acloque (Randolph, Mass.) had a standout game for the Sharks, shooting 5-9 in the paint, and grabbing 9 rebounds, both career highs.

Junior forward Stephanie Fox (West Springfield, Mass.) led the scoring with Acloque, shooting 7-14 from the floor for 14 points and 7 rebounds; junior guard Julianna Eagles (Quincy, Mass.) made 3 of 7 fields goals and went a perfect 4-4 at the free throw line, good for 11 points. Senior guard Lauren Kreckie (Braintree, Mass.) tallied 13 rebounds and 8 points for the Sharks.

Simmons outscored Lasell in both halves, going 34-16 in the first and 32-29 in the second. Freshman forward JoAnna Bishop (So. Burlington, VT) led the scoring for the Lazers with 12 points.

Head Coach Tony Price was pleased with his team's efforts, calling Acloque the "star" of the game.

Simmons has only four games remaining in their regular season. They will face off with Rivier College at home on Saturday, February 14 at 1:00pm.
