Simmons Basketball walked away with a win over conference foe Pine Manor College on Thursday night, 69-52, in front of a home crowd at the Holmes Sports and Fitness Center. With the win, the Sharks advance to 12-6 overall, 3-2 GNAC; the Gators fall to 2-15 overall, 0-6 GNAC.
Junior Stephanie Fox (West Springfield, Mass.) scored a game-high 20 points and tallied 6 rebounds, with junior Julianna Eagles not far behind with 19 points and 8 assists. Senior Sarah Clayton (Falmouth, Mass.) also reached double digits with 12 points on the night.
The Sharks trailed by 3 at the end of a slow first half, with Pine Manor leading 29-26. Simmons picked up the press at the start of the second half, outscoring the Gators by 20, to finish with a 17-point lead at the buzzer.
Enjolee Phillips (Hartford, Conn.) scored 13 points for Pine Manor, while Amanda Dennis (Haverhill, Mass.) picked up 10 points and 7 rebounds.
The Sharks return to action on Saturday, January 31, away at Albertus Magnus College at 1:00pm.
