Simmons Basketball lost to Trinity College 52-28 this afternoon, in front of packed home bleachers at the William J. Holmes Sports and Fitness Center.

Halfway through the first half, the action remained tight with the Bantams leading 3-2, until freshman guard Michelle Royals (Torrington, Conn.) hit two 3-pointers and freshman guard Kaitlin Ciarleglio (Waterbury, Conn.) another 3. In less than a minute, Trinity quickly pulled away to an 11-point lead, eventually finishing the first half leading 23-9.

The Sharks started the second half with a more focused defense, but were unable to fire up their scoring. Junior forward Stephanie Fox (West Springfield, Mass.) grabbed 10 rebounds, but it wasn't enough to turn the tide for Simmons.

Trinity again outscored Simmons in the second half, 29-19, Royals leading the Bantams with 20 points.

With the loss, Simmons falls to 7-4, while Trinity improves their undefeated record to 11-0.

The Sharks will face their next opponent on Thursday, January 15 at 7:00pm, at home against Framingham State College.
