Basketball Routs Gordon, 54-28

Simmons Basketball took the win against Gordon College at home on Tuesday night, advancing their overall record to 2-0. The Fighting Scots fall to 0-2.

Junior forward Stephanie Fox (West Springfield, Mass.) totaled 19 points, 11 rebounds and three blocks in Simmons loss to cross-street rival Emmanuel, 61-56, on Saturday afternoon at the Holmes Sports Center. With the loss, the Sharks fall to 8-5, GNAC 0-1, while the Saints improve to 8-6, GNAC 2-0.

Junior forward Stephanie Fox (West Springfield, Mass.) led the scoring for the Sharks with 18 points, also tallying 10 rebounds. Freshman center Brittany Langford (Worcester, Mass.) totaled 11 rebounds.

The game got out to a slow start with Simmons leading at the half, 28-7. Gordon returned for the second half to put up 21 points to Simmons' 26, but was unable to catch up to the Sharks' lead. Gordon's Sara Schwanke and Heather DeKleine led the scoring for the Fighting Scots with 6 points each.

Simmons will return to action on Friday, November 21, when they travel to the Hunter College Tip-Off Tournament in New York. The Sharks will begin the tournament facing the Red Dragons of SUNY-Oneonta.
