The Simmons College basketball team got its first win of the new year, and it's fourth of the season Monday night with an 84-52 runaway win at Mitchell College. Six Sharks scored in double figures led by freshman Morgan Johnson (Waterbury, Conn.) who had 17 points, and four steals.

Aubree Giarrosso came off the bench to score 14 for the Sharks. She broke a 20-20 tie with a layup with eight minutes to play in the first half, and the Sharks who led 38-31 at the break, never looked back. The second half was all Simmons as they outscored Mitchell 46-21 while shooting 64 percent from the field and holding Mitchell at the other end to a 9-26 half.

Co-Captains Lauren Kreckie and Nikki Cohen each added 12 points while Sarah Clayton and Stephanie Fox each chipped in with 10. The Sharks will be back in action on Wednesday night when they travel to Brandeis to close out the non-conference portion of their schedule.
