Hoops Season Comes to a Close

It wasn't meant to be for the Simmons College basketball team on Tuesday night as the Sharks fell to top seeded Emmanuel in the quarterfinals of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Tournament.

Simmons hung tough in the early going, but foul trouble plagued the Sharks in the first half as Emmanuel's depth started to wear them down. The pressure defense the Saints played forced Simmons into tough shots and difficult decisions that resulted in turnovers.

The Sharks were in the game at the break trailing by only 10 points, but Emmanuel kept the pressure up in the first 10 minutes of the second half and put Simmons away. The Sharks were led by junior Lauren Kreckie who poured in a team high 16 points.

Senior Nikki Cohen, playing in her final collegiate game grabbed a game high 12 rebounds, and scored nine points in the loss.

The Sharks end their season at 10-15.
