Sharks Remain hot with fourth straight win

The Simmons College basketball team picked up its fourth straight victory on Saturday with a 92-82 win over Mt. Ida in a battle for GNAC conference tournament positioning. It was a back and forth affair for much of the contest, with 24 lead changes and 10 ties, but in the end the Sharks were able to pull away.

With seven minutes to play junior Sarah Clayton buried a three-pointer to take the lead for good at 69-68, and lead by as many as 13 in the final minute. The offense was really clicking, as five players scored in double figures for the unselfish Sharks including a game high 24 points from Clayton who also grabbed eight rebounds. Sophomore Stephanie Fox had her double-double streak broken, but still finished with 21 points and 7 rebounds.

Senior Nikki Cohen had a double-double of her own with 10 points and 10 rebounds, while Freshman Morgan Johnson chipped in with 13 points and junior Lauren Kreckie had 17 points in the win. The Sharks return to action Tuesday night for their home finale against Johnson & Wales beginning at 7 p.m.
