Hoops Squad Continues its Roll

The Simmons College basketball team stayed on a roll Wednesday night as the Sharks won for the fourth time in five games with a convincing 60-46 win over St. Joseph (Conn.).

The Sharks (7-12, 4-5 GNAC)jumped out to an early lead thanks to the hot shooting of sophomore Stephanie Fox who had eight of the Sharks first 12 points as they built an early 12-4 lead.

The Blue Jays came back in the first half as foul trouble plagued Simmons as the half wound down, but they were able to maintain a 30-24 lead at the break.

In the second half junior Sarah Clayton caught fire scoring all 13 of her points in the final 20 minutes including three three-pointers.

Fox continued her stellar play and recorded her fifth straight double-double dropping 17 points, grabbing 12 rebounds and dishing out seven assists for the victors.

Freshman Morgan Johnson also had a good night netting 14 points for the Sharks.

Simmons will be off until Saturday when they travel to Mt. Ida for a pivotal GNAC contest that will help determine conference tournament seeding.
