Andrew Bliss enters his third season as assistant coach at Simmons University and second year as an assistant coach under Pat Helmas. 

In his first year with the Sharks, Bliss helped Simmons to a 19-7 overall record, including an 11-2 mark against Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) opponents. This season, he was instrumental in helping first-year Claire Conners develop as a hitter and secure GNAC Rookie of the Year honors – becoming the second Shark to earn the honors for the second straight year. Additionally, he was a part of a coaching team that help the Sharks big up the program’s first win, a 3-1 victory, over perennial powerhouse Johnson & Wales in seven years.

Bliss comes to Simmons with a plethora of experience as a longtime youth volleyball coach with SMASH volleyball club. He currently serves as head coach of the top girls 18s team, assistant coach for top boys 16s team and runs top girls beach program at SMASH. Also, he is entering his 6th season as assistant varsity coach for Wayland High School boys.

A native of Framingham, Massachusetts, Bliss continues to play volleyball on the professional circuit for the Boston Bounce in the Volleyball League of America.
