Weeg Leads Volleyball in 3-0 Loss at Plymouth State

PLYMOUTH, N.H. - Sophomore outside hitter Morgan Weeg (Goodyear, Ariz.) spiked for a match-high 16 kills and hit .333 to lead the Simmons College women's volleyball team in a 3-0 (25-22, 25-23, 25-19) loss to host Plymouth State University in the first contest of a tri-match this afternoon at Foley Gymnasium in Plymouth, N.H. The Sharks fall to 9-8 on the season, while the Panthers improve to 12-5.

PLYMOUTH, N.H. - Sophomore outside hitter Morgan Weeg (Goodyear, Ariz.) spiked for a match-high 16 kills and hit .333 to lead the Simmons College women's volleyball team in a 3-0 (25-22, 25-23, 25-19) loss to host Plymouth State University in the first contest of a tri-match this afternoon at Foley Gymnasium in Plymouth, N.H. The Sharks fall to 9-8 on the season, while the Panthers improve to 12-5.

Both team's were efficient on the offensive end of the court with Plymouth hitting .303 for the match to Simmons' mark of .213.

Weeg added five digs and an ace to her day for the Sharks. First year outside hitter Riley Roberge (Peoria, Ariz.) contributed with six kills, two aces, two digs and a block assist, while classmate Faith Gray-Williams (Las Vegas, Nev.) posted her fourth double-double of the season and second in as many matches with 13 assists and 10 digs to go with two aces and a kill. First year libero Julia Fusco (Beverly, Mass.) picked up 16 digs and fired an ace for Simmons.

Senior outside hitter Claire Sporer (Medford, Ore.) led the Panthers with 11 kills on a .391 hitting percentage in addition to eight digs, while sophomore outside hitter Alexis Bowers (Port Saint Lucie, Fla.) put down eight kills and picked up six digs. Senior setter Megan Bailey (Canterbury, N.H.) led all players with 31 assists and added five digs, two aces and a pair of kills. Senior defensive specialist Brenna Peruch (Cave Creek, Ariz.) got down for a match-best 17 digs and also fired a pair of aces for Plymouth State.

The Sharks will take on Bates at 2:00 p.m. today, while the Panthers play the Bobcats at 4:00 p.m.
