Wasiuk, Turriza, Krupnikoff Receive GNAC All-Conference Recognition

WINTHROP, Mass. – Graduate senior defender Riley Wasiuk headlined three members of the Simmons lacrosse program to garner Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) All-Conference recognition announced Tuesday afternoon.

Riley Wasiuk was named to the GNAC All-Conference first team for the second straight season after posting a career-year. In addition to tallying 14 goals for 14 points, Wasiuk eclipsed the program single-season and career records for ground balls, scooping up 78 to finish her career with 176. The Rutland, Massachusetts native was an integral part of the Sharks defense as she forced 49 caused turnovers on the season – including registering a career single-game high seven twice against Regis College (March 29) and Anna Maria College (April 16).

Joining Wasiuk on the All-GNAC first team is prolific goal-scorer, junior Frida Turriza. As the Sharks' leading goal scorer with 53 on the season, Turriza appeared and started in 17 of 18 games for the Sharks. A prolific goal scorer and play-maker on the field, she became the second player in as many years to record nine goals in game – tallying nine in an 18-10 victory over Norwich University on April 6. Against the Cadets, the New Hampshire native was perfect five-for-five on free positions for five of her nine goals, while winning seven draw controls.

First-year midfielder Lauren Krupnikoff rounded out the Simmons trio earning a spot on the GNAC All-Rookie Team. In her first season, the two-sport athlete started 10 of 18 games recording nine goals and one assists for 10 points, while scooping up 26 ground balls and forcing 12 turnovers. In a convincing win over Mount Holyoke, Krupnikoff notched a single-game best two goals, then later in the season tied her single-game best scoring a pair in wins against conference foes Regis College and Norwich University.
