BRIGHTON, Mass. – Simmons lacrosse (2-2) fell back to .500 on the season dropping a non-conference bout against Wheaton College (2-2) on Saturday afternoon.

The Sharks were quick to draw first blood. Less than four minutes into the contest junior Frida Turriza registered her eighth goal of the season to give Simmons the one-goal lead. Two minutes later, graduate senior Riley Wasiuk drilled her fifth goal of the season by Lyons goalie Katie Gels to put the Sharks in front, 2-0.

Midway through the quarter energy was thrusted into the Lyons offense, scoring seven unanswered goals to pull ahead, 7-5. But with three seconds remaining in the half, senior Julia Chausse converted a free position shot to cut the deficit to four heading into the second half.

When the teams returned to the field at the start of the second half, momentum remained with the Lyons registered four goals in the third period to pull ahead, 11-3. Wheaton scored three more goals in the fourth quarter to seal their second victory of the young season.

First-year goalkeeper Anya Younie was solid in net for the Sharks, registering a career single-game best 13 saves against the Lyons.
