BRIGHTON, Mass. – Simmons lacrosse's (12-3, 10-1 GNAC) eight-game winning streak was snapped at the hands of Saint Joseph's College of Maine (12-3, 10-1 GNAC), 15-8, on Wednesday evening.

The tone was set by the Monks early, jumping out to a 5-0 lead halfway the first period, sparked by a trio of goals from Carson Battaglia. However, the Sharks did not let the five-goal deficit deter them and cut into the Monks' lead with back-to-back goals by sophomore Frida Turriza and senior Sammi Hogan. Just before the end of the quarter, Saint Joseph's graduate student Lydia Dexter buried a free position shot to push the lead back to four, 6-2.

Saint Joseph's momentum carried into the second quarter as they outscored Simmons, 3-1, in the period. The lone Sharks goal came graduate student Abby Stoller connected with Hogan for the second time in as many periods, just over halfway through the quarter. But it was all Monks as they took a 9-3 lead into the halftime.

At the start of the second half, Simmons came out with a renewed sense of energy. Over a minute into the period, the Stoller-Hogan connected sparked a 4-2 quarter and pulled the Sharks to within four goals. In the third period alone, Stoller recorded three of her career single-game high five assists – including a pair to Hogan and one to junior Cameron Richards

However, the winds of momentum swung back in the direction of the defending GNAC Champions. The Monks enjoyed a 5-1 fourth quarter as they sealed the victory. First-year goalkeeper Alexis Eldridge earned her 10th victory of the season, playing 45 minutes in goal, while making five saves.
