NEW LONDON, Conn. – Simmons lacrosse (10-2, 8-0) continued its dominance with its second road victory this week, defeating Albertus Magnus, 19-1, in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action on Saturday afternoon.

After scoring 12 goals in the opening period in their Wednesday evening conference meeting against Rivier University, the Sharks nearly duplicated that performance on Saturday. With four first quarter goals from graduate senior Abby Stoller and a pair from sophomore Frida Turriza, Simmons took an early 11-0 lead after the first period of play.

There was no letting up for the Sharks offense. Junior Marita Nothacker added two goals in the second period, including a player-up goal with 20 seconds remaining the half to take a commanding 13-0 lead into the intermission.

Midway through the third quarter, junior Julia Chausse, who already had a first quarter goal, connected with fellow classmate Cameron Richards for the team's 14 goal and lone goal of the period.

However, the Sharks added to their tally in the final quarter of play. In the early seconds of the quarter, Stoller recorded her fifth goal of the game, before Chausse found sophomore Kat Wood to put Simmons up 16-0. Albertus Magnus managed to break up the shutout scoring at the 10-minute mark, but senior Bailey Edwards got it right back with finding the back of the net for her first goal of the season.

Senior Nicole Elliott improved to 2-1 on the season, after recording three saves in 30 minutes. Senior Katie Castle played the second half and made one save on the day.
